About

Gülden Vildan Atakan is a Swiss-based Turkish mezzo-soprano, specializing in light lyric mezzo-soprano repertoire. Her roles include Cherubino in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro, Sesto in Handel’s Giulio Cesare, Annio in Mozart’s La clemenza di Tito, and Orlofsky in Johann Strauss’s Die Fledermaus. Her voice and stage presence make her particularly well-suited for trouser roles and youthful characters in both Baroque and Classical repertoire.

She was a member of the Swiss Opera Studio at Bern University. During this period, she appeared on the stages of Stadttheater Biel and Solothurn in professional productions, performing roles such as Vierte Amourette in Keiser’s Ulysses and Berggeister in Müller’s Heidi feiert Weihnachten. In June 2024, she also sang the role of Ramiro in Mozart’s La finta Giardiniera at the same theater.

Previously, she studied at Başkent University and the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music at Tel Aviv University, where she was awarded full scholarships for her Artist Diploma program. Her stage credits from Tel Aviv include Dorabella in Mozart’s Così fan tutte, L’enfant in Ravel’s L’enfant et les Sortilèges, and Dorinda in Handel’s Acis and Galatea. She also performed in numerous concerts at prestigious venues throughout the city.

Gülden has worked under the baton of distinguished conductors including Franco Trinca, Clemens Flick, Kaspar Zehnder, Marco Conti, Uri Binyamin Rom, and Ronen Borshevsky. As part of the Summer Opera Program Tel Aviv, she portrayed La Sorella Infermiera in Puccini’s Suor Angelica.

Her international performance experience spans Switzerland, Israel, Turkey, Germany, and the Czech Republic. She has further honed her skills through masterclasses with respected teachers such as Vesselina Kasarova, Michael Hix, Lucy Armer, Sharon Mohat, Liora Maurer, Frederik Brown, and H. Helge Dorsch.
